The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the
official notification for the Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination
2026. This open competitive Computer Based Examination will recruit
stenographers in various Ministries, Departments, and Organizations of the
Government of India.

Reservation & PwBD Suitability
- Reservation
available for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-servicemen, and PwBD categories.
- Stenographer
posts are suitable for candidates with benchmark disabilities such as
Blindness, Low Vision, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disabilities,
Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability,
Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness, among others.
- Only
male candidates are eligible for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ posts in the
Border Roads Organization (BRO).
Eligibility Criteria
Qualification
- Candidates
must have passed 12th Standard (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized
Board or University.
Mode of Selection
- The
selection will be through a Computer Based Examination (CBE) followed by a
Skill Test in Stenography.
- Candidates
qualifying the CBE will be called for the Skill Test.
- Final
selection will be based on the combined performance in the CBE and Skill
Test.
Nationality
Candidates must be:
- Citizens
of India, or
- Subjects
of Nepal/Bhutan, or
- Persons
of Indian origin migrated from select countries intending permanent
settlement in India.

Grade ‘C’: 18 to 30 years (Born between 02 August 1996 and 01 August
2008).
